Steam OS for PC
I own a Steamdeck that I've upgraded to 2TB of internal memory and a 2TB external drive. I've loved it a as my desktop client for 6 months with some minor challenges getting some games to run on it that many said couldn't be done. One game was ESO for Windows, standalone and then a lot of single player Uplay, EA Origin and Gog games. (These, admittedly, got a lot easier to configure and install with the release of products like NonSteamLaunchers.)

AFter this period of time a friend bought me a Alienwaare M18 R2 with 2TB of drive space, a 4090 video card and Windows 11. While this notebook should be considered top of the line, ti's been nothing but trouble ever since version update 24H2 of Windows 11 came out. It has been plagued with software incompatibilities with Microsofts own partners, resulting in numerous blue screen crashes and patches releasing that fix 1 thing while breaking 3 more. (for example, Windows processes changing the way they're called and flooding event logs with errors, spiraling out of control to the point of overheating CPU's and Video cards causing CTD Blue screens. Some patch-update failed to identify SSD's properly and caused Windows to start defragging them. The first of these 2 I experienced, the second I read on a Microsoft Knowledge Base sharing forum for partners while researching Blue Screens I was getting from software drivers installed in Device Manager by Razer 3rd party utilities for screen saver replacements. It sounds ridiculous, but its so strange that its true.

I say all this to mention that stable drivers for Nvidia cards have been out for a while now. I beg you, please incorporate them with your Steam OS build and release it for Public use on PC. I am so desperate for a the stability of Steam OS to be released for laptops I'll volunteer to be a beta tester.

From a desperate gamer who was in tech support for Global & Enterprise servers and pc's before getting injured by a surgery. If you know what these letters mean from 15 years ago, here they are... MCSE for desktop and servers, Win 2k Cluster certified. CNE Netware 4 & IntraNetware, A+ certified, IBM and Compaq server certified, HP Server and PC hardware certified. I was experienced supporting server back-ends for Exchange and Notes, Netware and Microsoft clustering and EMC SAN's on the back-end for those clusters.

I give you all of that info, not to wow you with outdated knowledge and skills, but to let you know that I have a little bit of knowledge when I say I've never seen Microsoft Operating System development at such a low state and I think gamer's deserve and need a stable gaming platform like the one you've created with Steam OS on the Steamdeck! The contrast I've experienced between the two OS platforms over the past year are striking. On Steam OS I was tweaking games to get them to work with Proton. With Windows 11 I'm desperately trying to keep the OS from burning up my laptops video card & CPU's while I uninstall apps, clean up device manager manager manually, test and implement privacy fixes from other pro's just to keep my personal data from being strip-mined by hackers on YouTube. It's crazy how leaky Win 11 is from even a privacy perspective.

Please halp make gaming great again by providing us gamers your innovation and excellence in the Game market with Steam OS for PC's. We need it so we can go back to gaming instead of solving Microsoft's problems for them.
