The focus should be on maintaining a secure account. As long as you do this, there is no need to add anything else.
I log in into steam only via installed steam launcher,
Last time I did it was 5 years ago, as I did install the steam launcher.
After that I never ever did go online to log in into steam.
To maintaining a secure account, the shop and the customers have to adapt.
There professional people out there, who do damage steams customers,
no matter how good accounts are secured.
Additional security steps can't hurt.
Interesting setup but that doesn't change what I said. The account got hijacked, I don't expect you to remember how/when it happened since the methods rely on the person not realizing they're doing it, tends to work best on people that just don't know any better. No shame in that though.
Anyway, hopefully you fully secure your account and practice safer browsing habits.

So why not allow the users to do it, most people are here to play games.
The market is something that is actually important for Valve. Why would they offer a disable on something that is their money printing machine?
Keep in mind that the interests of a company and its users can differ and that this actually is ok as well.
Phishing or malware. Whatever it was, the account holder did something.
It's only "very frequent and common" because users sadly give away login credentials like candy on Halloween.
So my question which is it. If you login to only play games then where are you logged into the forums and posting from this is considered browsing and not just playing games.
I highly doubt the PC is used just to play games anyway.
On the other hand they are on the other PC logged in and fell for a phishing scam or got malware.
so I am not logged in online via Mozilla, opera or internet explorer.
2 The PC I use for Mozilla, opera or internet explorer, to watch movies is physically a different device, it's my older computer. I don't play games on it.
So even if there would be a third party software on my second PC, its not on the first one.
I wonder how that's can be an option at all?
people kept demanding an option to Delete games from their library. its a good thing steam didnt listen to those people and only made it a HIDE option.
No one forces you to use them.
Don't want to use it? Then simply don't.
steam does use my money, for things I did not buy or want.
The issue is, hackers somehow use steam market to steal peoples money.
And steam does not refund that money.
