Steam disk usage is hopeless
I've swapped from a HDD to an SSD because my downloads would take 12+ hours thanks to minimum disk usage. Thinking it was a hard drive problem, I upgraded. Still only uses maximum 5mb on the disk at a time! Tried everything, any help would be appreciated!

has to be hardware or windows fault, have you got the latest chipset drivers for your system, i download at 114MB per second and I can use full speed of ssd or nvme when downloading and installing.

All drivers are up to date, all downloads settings are optimised following other troubleshooting guides. Maybe I'm just cursed 😔

Steam patching is limited by your disk IO

99.999% of teh time 'slow patching' is primarily because people run an anti-virus program that isn't Windows Defender. These programs all constantly waste resource and scan everything in a vain attempt to 'justify' their existence

Uninstall whatever anti-virus you have and just use windows defender
