Charged for no reason
My credit card account was charged today and yesterday for a total of 600USD by Steam. The withdrawals were all made by “Steamgames.com 4259522 Bellevue Us” When I first realized yesterday that 200USDs were missing for some reason I immediately reached out to their support but gotten no response as of yet. After that I was charged an additional 399.99USDs a couple hours ago, in two distinct transactions 8 minutes apart. The account from which the money is pending withdrawal is connected to a card I used only once for my Steam purchases and haven’t saved as a payment method. Does this happen at all and when can I get a refund?

Your account was likely hijacked. Recover your account

Again this card that I’m talking about is not saved on my account as a payment method. My original card and account remain untouched. I believe I have full and sole access to my account, I have already triple checked that. I see no logins made from any devices that I don’t recognize. Just to make sure I changed my password as well. There have been no information changes either, i.e email address, phone number. There are also no purchases which could be linked to these amounts. Neither am I member of any Steam Family. So I really do not see how my account is hijacked.

Do the following to secure your account:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://psteamproxy.yuanyoumao.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://psteamproxy.yuanyoumao.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Then contact steam support about the unknown charges here:

Then your card was skimmed or something at some point.

I mean what's more plausible, a criminal got ahold of your card info somehow, or Valve is randomly charging you money from a card you claim they wouldn't have the details for because it's not saved? How many hoops do you need to jump through for Valve to be responsible for this AND do something that's easily spotted?

You know who wouldn't care? A proper thief.

no matter what

call your bank and cancel the card and reverse the charges

it will put a hold on your steam account

but should be temp

get in touch with steam support and tell them what is going on

but that is the least of your problems if someone has access to your card

you need to find out where it is your info was released/leaked

either you gave it to a scammer/phisher

or you are involved in one of the many big company leaks

doing the things that miamew3 would not hurt,

just in case

edit:or as nullable said

you could have been skimmed

Yup I already cancelled the card and removed the only saved payment method as well. Unfortunately, I can only request reversal of charges after they have gone through. As of now they are pending.

Your account was probably not compromised but the card was and it's just a coincidence that they have been using Steam to mark purchases. Work with your bank and inform Valve via Support.
