Steam seems to have removed any means to contact a human.
About 3 years ago, I had a problem with my account and was able to contact a person at steam inside the steam client. We had an easy to follow back and forth within the app, and the support ticket was resolved and closed.

I have a problem with in app purchases in MSFS2020 and wanted to discuss the removal of my preferred transaction experience. It used to be that in the app it would present the option to fund the exact amount required with VAT to complete the purchase. I would ping my cc , and the purchase completed and returned me to the sim. A seamless experience.

Now, Steam seems to have enshitified their support and store experience. I tried to purchase some DLC in sim, and it presented funding options which were ONLY coupon amounts, NOT, repeat NOT the customary 'click here to fund your account with the proper amount' option as before. I am not, EVER buying a coupon from steam store, for anything other than a single purchase, funded to the precise amount of the purchase.

It goes like this...." Hey Steam, if you want to sell me something, give me a way to pay for the immediate purchase, without leaving any of my $$ lying fallow in a steam account credit line."

Can anyone point me to that hidden, and little known trail that leads to a contact with a human support person at Steam please?

By the way folks, everyone who uses a computer SHOULD run, walk, or paddle to the nearest library/bookstore/e-reader whatever, and grab a copy of Enshitification by Cory Doctoro It is an intensely and entertaining read that any tech users on the planet would benefit greatly from.

ADVthanksANCE for any/everyone who interacts with this post, hopefully with a clue on how to track down the elusive Steam Support Worker!!

Adding money to your wallet has always had a $5 USD minimum, or something close to that in other currencies. You can add the exact amount needed for the purchase as long as it's greater than that minimum.

Ingame purchases can't be made directly, you have to add the funds to your wallet first. If you didn't notice it before, then you were probably buying things that were more expensive, or were purchased directly from Steam rather than ingame.

Thanks FFL2... That was it. Ok, anything above 5 is what I used to have. I was trying to purchase one at $3 first of about 3 total purchases of well over $30. They went through one at a time, and after the first, each of the others were more than 5, and I got the option to top up seamlessly again. Now, about that invisible SSW.....

Microsoft could very well have put their DLC or microtransaction on the store page but chose not to do so. In doing so you have to add funds to the Steamwallet in order to buy the DLC/MTX because it goes through Steam.

This isn't anything new and every game with ingame microtransactions do the same on Steam.

Steam support have real people but they are there for account and billing issues. Your issues is that you want a change in how Steam Operates so it's not Support job to fix it also that's just not going to happen.

This has never been a thing. Ever

All communications with support have to be through support tickets. There has never been a way to chat with someone unless you were doing it through a ticket.
