Can I still get a refund?
I have a game I bought for ~$40 and downloaded, that I ended up not liking. The story is lacking, the gameplay isn't what I expected, and it's hard on my computer. I've only played ~1.3 hours, but it's been an extended period since I bought it, significantly past the typical 14-day refund period. However, I was unable to access Steam to refund the game because my computer had issues and had to be sent in for repairs, and was completely out of commission for 2 months. Is there any way I could still get a refund?

you can try the manual method

find the game in your purchase history

then click the

"i have a question about this purchase"

explain what happened and why you would like the refund

it will be looked at by a person and they will decide if it is something they are willing to do

you are very far out from the 2 weeks, though, so i would not hold my breath

but the worst they can do is say no

Where Refunds Apply
The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store. Here is an overview of how refunds work with other types of purchases.

There is no rule against asking. Although, given the length of ownership, the system will auto-deny you. You can try an "manual refund" which is done by choosing "I have a question about this purchase" and explaining why you are seeking a refund outside of the refund limits.

What you're referring to is a chargeback and that will just cause the payment method to be banned from Steam, have the account locked down for several weeks, basically not the answer you think it is.

It's also fraud in a scenario like this. Chargebacks aren't some kinda trump card when policies you agreed to suddenly become inconvenient, so you want to lie to the bank to try and override them.

refund period is 2 hours and 14 days/2 weeks, if it was slightly over, like maybe a minute over the 2 hour or over the 14 days. But if either one is way over, like a month, then forget it

The refund system is not meant to be used to allow you to "demo" any game. If you do this a certain (hidden) number of times, you will have the ability to refund games permanently removed from your account. Check the FAQ.
