How to bind a joystick to simultaneously act as both joystick and dpad simultaneously?

When I press the gear wheel for the face buttons, it gives me the option of adding a sub command. But with the joysticks, the gear wheel takes me to another menu where that's not an option.

I want to do this because I have a game that uses joystick for movement, and exclusively the dpad for menu navigation, which is really annoying. I want to have the joystick just do both.

For Left Joystick Behavior, click the drop-down and change it from 'Joystick' to 'Directional Pad'.

Then, for LS Up:
- add command DPad Up
- gear icon > Add extra command
- set LS Up Command 2 to LS Up
Can finish there if you don't need LS Up to be analog.

If it should be analog:
LS Up Command 2 > gear > change the activator (top option in the menu) from 'Regular Press' to 'Analog'

(I found the configurator was buggy for the next step - the setting for Output Axis doesn't initially take, but was OK after backing out of the configurator. So could do the previous steps for the other directions, then back out, and then do the last step for each direction).

LS Up Command 2 > gear > Settings > Output Axis = Left Stick Push Up
