This happens with every game. Steams multiplies my in-game time by 100X.

For example, I have spent at tops 1.5 hours going through the tutorials.

Steam claims I have 23.1 hours played.

My steam account is on my desktop. It's the only machine I use for playing games. When I'm done with a game session I shut the game down via the Steam client.

So where does Steam come up with these wild estimates?

I have purchased games simply because they were on sale and never played them.

Some have me logged in for hundreds of hours.

WTF is going on?

This kills my ability to get a refund under the rules.
