Getting USB-C > displayport 1.4 cable could allow you to just bypass HDMI..
I'm pretty sure there's a 3.2 Gen 1 type-C port on your laptop.
If you don't have money to spend, probably try updating AMD drivers.
There's more ways like editing the monitors EDID to try and 'force' stuff, but that's way too much effort, that adapter is a way better solution me thinks.
Edit : also, do you have different resolutions for each desktop? a mismatch will probably also influence the refresh rate, vega GPU's set the default FPS to 60 I think in your AMD drivers.
