Steam accussing my of using a VPN...advice? lol
So long story short. I was in Brazil for about 2 months, I purchased a steam cd key for Civ 7 from a 3rd party website in Brazil, and was unable to download the game as it did not match the country my steam account was registered to (the USA). Steam support was as helpful as a car with no wheels and suggested I don't use a VPN, which I never did as I was physically in Brazil. I was able to fix it myself by just purchasing a $1 dollar game in the local currency using my wife's local payment method, and bam I was able to update my country to Brazil on steam and install the game on my laptop. I am aware that I need to wait 3 months to change it back but that's fine I can do that next time I want to buy a game.

My issue is that now that I am back home in the USA I can't seem to install the game onto my desktop computer, and when I contact steam the idiot rep just said that I have to wait 3 months before purchasing another game, I told him that I don't want to purchase another game I just want to install the game on my desktop that I had already installed on my laptop. And he responds that my account was found to be using a VPN or a proxy (whatever that is) which is a 100% false statement, as I have never even used a VPN nor have access to one. So not only am I annoyed that I am being accused of doing something I didn't do that are refusing to help me with installing the game I purchased. It's all very frustrating.

as an update I just found out that I can't even launch civ 7 from my laptop. So the game I bought while in Brazil will not work on my computer just because I am physically located in the USA?
Most likely that was a Brazil locked key so you will have to wait 90 days to play it in a different country.

That's annoying, but as long as I can eventually gain access to the game. Thank you for the info.
Steam is obviously wrong
