Steam Connectivity Issues
Posted this in the Steam Monthly Support thread on Reddit with no answer after a few days.

I'm having an issue with Steam connectivity for the past month. It all started around the time I purchased Battlefield 6 but I imagine that's just a coincidence.

My internet is fine. I have nearly 600 Down and 300-500 Up when I do speed tests. All sites are working fine except Steam.

What happens:

I will play a game. Doesn't matter what game. When I'm done playing that game, I will get a cloud error and any updates or downloads I try to start through Steam fail with a "No Internet Connection" error. Upon restarting Steam, it works until I start playing a game again, at which point, the cycle repeats.

I've tried:

Disabling cloud

Using stable and beta branch of Steam

Fully reinstalling Steam (deleting all folders but my a steamapps) and relaunching the client.

Making sure Steam is allowed through my firewall

This is getting very frustrating.

Puuh, this could be hundreds of possible reasons =D

To narrow them down:

* Are you on WiFi or cable?
* What OS do you have? Windows 10/11? Linux Distro?
* Only Steam has this problem?
* If you run a "ping -t google.com" for some time there are no package losses?
* Did you try to reinstall / verify your network drivers?
* If you are on Windows: Does the "Event Viewer" show any suspicious logs when this happens?

WiFi. Been on WiFi for fifteen years. Bought a new external antenna to see if it helped and while it improved gaming latency and overall download speeds due to signal quality improvement, didn't fix the issue with Steam.

Windows 11 Home Premium

Only Steam. No issue with EA App or Ubisoft App

Ran the ping command for about five minutes. Anywhere from 39ms to 55ms.

"Reply from 74.125.129.139: bytes=32 time=45ms TTL=103" is a ballpark of what I've gotten.

Have fully uninstalled my network driver, restarted and had it reinstalled.

Try to run the ping command while you are reproducing the problem in Steam.
And check the Event Viewer for anything suspiscious like errors and warnings while you reproduce it.

How many device in house hold use wifi crap, if you are the only one then it cant be that if you have multi device that fight over how need to talk on wifi to router the thats your problem.

Example stream telly on several wifi user and you got no bandwide.

1gbit network is nothing today if you have multi user accress it.

We cant faulty find for you, then you use i have use it over 15 years. ( who has not change things over that time. ) xbox ijn living room and other things , wifi kids and other multimedia server even bandwide goes to such device.

We have even seen QOS and other shared bandwide with IP radio has limitation issue.

I'm sure you are the only 1 and you have no other user online then try cable anyway.

And its still black friday now, you have choise to make steam post when taht happend, most here will tell you ISP into steam cant keep up, this is fact in every steam event sale alwayss some few steam user get effect by traffic issue, its actual worst time you can have a network issue, moost here can tell you that.

Just so you know w ehave compnay that use black week and month now. ( Nvember is worst network month atm with increased traffic to all IT companys.

I cant say this is it. but if this goes away 2-3 day after all steam users has DL all games bought then you know why.

Feel free to use external browser to buy games, while no internet connection is there in steam client, as fare as we know here that port 80 traffic always seem to get though to steam.

Has been past steam users solution over many years atm.

And we have seen steam id this and that, all you need is a ISP area issue with traffic vanish then all work again, so all the try this and that seem to be hard to confirm with best steam helper try this and that.

Switch steam DL zone also help on bandwide still require a connection to them.

It might be a different problem source than you expected =D

As Dranak mentioned WiFi can be very error prone. Depending on your sourroundings like walls or other WiFi devices.
Bluetooth for example sends on 2.4GHz too and can interfere with your WiFi if it uses the same frequence. I had a similiar problem while I was using a PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth xD
