Chrome new tab popup bug

For the last few days, whenever i open steam, i get spammed by steam opening chrome new tabs. I can close said tabs but they keep popping up at about 20 second intervals. Very annoying as it makes most games almost unplayable. I dont know how i would fix this.

I dont have to be in a game to have this happen, having any part of steam open will do this.
Does anyone else know how to get rid of this issue?

This has also been happening to me. I managed to get it to stop temporarily by just killing the app and reopening it, but it has come back. I run a linux os, so I'm kinda used to weird bugs like that, and I think it might be a Flatpack issue. What os do you use?
