My account was stolen by a "Steam Support"?
Date of incident: November 18 Situation: My account was blocked (Games and Friends List).

Reason given:

I was reported as a CS2 skin thief.

They said I needed to send all my items to a “trusted friend” so my skins could be analyzed.

The process would take 7 days, which is exactly the time I have to appeal a trade offer.

Additional details:

During the waiting period, this person claimed they would act as my “manager” and that I could contact them.

A few days later, when I checked the conversation and the trade offer list, I noticed that the nickname had been changed to a random account, not my friend’s account.

DO NOT TRADE
If you have access to the account

Steps to take NOW to secure the account:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://psteamproxy.yuanyoumao.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer

5. Revoke the API key https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)
6. If points were stolen, do a password RESET to cancel the awards/points before they are delivered

Please review how you are logging into Steam, you somehow gave them your log in information. This could of been due to the computer being compromised and redirecting to a fake login, or you using a 3rd party site to login to steam.

After you have secured the account, please edit your profile back to normal by hitting the EDIT PROFILE button if it was altered by the hijacker/scammer. Report any accounts involved if possible.

Steam support does not post messages on your profile, they don't give out warnings about pending bans, they dont give time to move stuff, they wont tell you to move stuff. Someone has enough access to the account to make changes to the profile. If you try to move any items, the trade will get cancelled and a new one created sending the items to the scammers accounts.

They do not change your name/avatar unless it violates the rules (advertising, inappropriate language, etc). Such a change would only reset it to the default settings (your steam ID for the name, the default ? avatar for the avatar). This would include an account alert that you have to click a box that says "I have read this"

Claro!

English (reformatted):
I wanted someone’s help to check the screenshots of the conversation in the Steam app, to confirm whether there was a possibility that it was actually official Steam support. However, I decided to let it go and will appeal the trade, which is still within the 7-day period. If it really was support, they said I would lose the items and my account would face a 30-day trade ban.
Without question, it IS a scam.

You can post screenshots without having to do so through friending. But I don't even need to see them. Support doesn't do what you describe. You got scammed. Follow my links and instructions in my first reply.

Sounds like this might be a scammer on this account trying to do social engineering to you rawWwRrr to look at some fake pics possibly that would of lead you to a fradulant site. Let me guess they don't know how to take screenshots? Or they use some third party screenshot site?

Might even be some kind of scammer bot tricking people to fradulant sites. It would not suprise me.

There's no need to see the screenshots. That's not support, and you should cease all communication with them, report them, and block them. There is no "7-day period". All trades are final and your items are gone.

What's important now is securing your account by following the steps RaWwRrr posted, then learn how these scams work so you don't become a victim again in the future.

CS2 items now have a 7-days of trade protection.

Oh! That's news to me! I'm sure the scammers absolutely hate that. Good to know, thank you.
