Would I be able to access a dead relatives steam account?
This is the message I have sent them.. any support would help.. He’s the reason I get on and play CS

“ Good Evening,

I’d like to start off by saying thank you for allowing me to play. Games have been a way for my family and I to process our feelings and thoughts in a way that we could never in the real world.

Second, I’d like to state that I do understand terms and conditions on how every single steam account is individual and owned by the person who created said account. But I would like to ask for an exception given my circumstances.

On January 2nd, 2020. My brother unfortunately passed away due to overdose. He was an avid gamer who taught my family and I how to enjoy video games through steam. His account named “Claudre” (which is the one on my friends list) is his personal account. Every .. single .. day I have opened up Steam , i’ve seen the “Last Online ____ Days ago.” I’ve recently stopped seeing this and it overwhelmingly deteriorates my mental health and ability to get on my favorite games. My brother loved this gaming and was my inspiration. Is there any possible way I would be able to get access to his account?

I am willing to do whatever it take, however long it takes and I have all the information I am sure I am needed to provide. “

The only way for you to play your brothers games is to have all the necessary log in details. The Ownership will always remain with Steam and your late brother. Steam does not support giving deceased accounts to family etc.

According to the Steam Subscriber Agreement, a user's account and its library are not transferable after death, and the account is considered a license to use the content, not a physical asset.
While there is no official process for transferring an account, some people share login information to grant access, though this violates the terms of service.
Valve may consider transfers on a case-by-case basis, but it requires official proof of death and a legitimate interest.
Thank you. I’ll see what I can do with proof and legitimate interest.

Nothing you can do. You have no right to that account and Steam will not give you access.
I keep it simple, Steam have to restructure account handles backend, and other things to become mainstream for support to be able to do, but there other issues come from it too, and this isn't a you thing, there are bad actors that will do ANYTHING & EVERYTHING to RUIN things for others for a quick buck, or with a bad motive, which why we can't have nice things.

So as it stands ATM Steam policy doesn't allow account ownership to be transfer, nor do they allow others to taking ownership.

Steam support WILL NOT do anything to you if you figure out how to gain access to your brother account to using it, just don't go around promoting, or bragging about it, this way you can use your brother account how you see fit, so dig through your brother stuff may come across password book, or something as long can figure out how to login, and get access to email tied to the account, you can login as normal, or even do password recovery to regain controller without contacting support, the worse case is contacting support, and providing proof as ownership using Steam Keys that were used on the account like steam wallet cards, Valve game CD, or past banking / credit card info.
