Someone said i purchased their knife but i didn't
So someone on discord texted me if i made any purchases, i told them yeah because i thought they meant like if i ever bought games or dlcs. They sent a screenshot that some account with my pfp and name purchased their knife and they didn't receive any money.
They asked me if i can check my purchase history which i sent them a screen that the last thing i bought was like month or so ago. I left my acc username there accidentaly.
They said they reported me w their friends and that its really not me and they are sorry.
Is that some kind of scam or what should i do? I have steam guard activated but i still doubt it.

it is a scam

and this is often the middle of it

to be safe, do not trade and do these

1. Scan for malware

2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.

3. Deauthorize all other devices

4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.

5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App

Stop using third party launchers. Yes, discord is considered a third party launcher otherwise it would come pre installed on steam. Also, if your cannot figure out what is a scam versus legitimate, stop using other sites. The more sites you use, the more info people can phish from you. Use steam only. And yes, steam has its own scammers too. Learn about those scams first, and try to have someone use one against you to practice seeing them in the wild. Then when your confident enough, you can start using third party discord launcher.
