so i got this weird problem on my hands:
i have some 20 years of spent gift cards on a drawer. what should i do with them, and if disposal is possible, how do i dispose of them as to not compromise my account?

I would write down/photograph the card numbers and file them safely away. Sometimes they're used in account recovery. Aside from that chop them up and throw them out.

It's not very plausible that someone is going to go through your trash reassemble your gift cards back together and figure out which MIGHT be part of the evidence required to prove ownership of your account. For one they'd have to know which account the used cards go to, they can't just take a used giftcard to Steam support and find out which account the card was used on.

They have been used, so throw them out. There is no way anyone can trace a gift card to whoever used it. If you're that paranoid about it, then shred them.

Keep them because sometimes you need them to prove what you bought on steam. If you ever lose your account, you can use them as evidence to prove the account is yours.

BTW, i did see someone go thru my trash before. That is why we shred all our documents and throw pet waste on top of them now to prevent it from happening again.

yeah, i'm thinking about shreding some (there's more than 100 of them. im guessing some 10 or 20 should be enough to keep?), and doing it in 2 sacks, half the info in one, half the info on another. this way the info would be trully scattered.

Just to let you know, we did report this person going thru our trash, but the police does nothing. Just like when i caught a person posing at me at this place. I even had it filmed too, and they still refused to look at it.
