What do I do if I accidentally redeem a key for a game I already own?

I was going to give a free key to a friend of mine. For some reason I thought by redeeming the key on Steam it would give me a option to gift it, but instead it activated it on my account even though I purchased the game back in 2022.

I'm not sure who I should contact or where I should go on Steam to have the key deactivated so they can redeem it.

Once the key has been linked to a account it's linked to that account only and cannot be transferred.

Usually, you can't redeem keys for games you already own, Steam will just give you an error, so the key you used, must have a different AppID to the one you redeemed originally.

Anyway as Chomp said, there's nothing you can do once it is redeemed, it's tied to your account forever.
