Change of "voice output device" doesn't have any effect (Bug)
Hello all,

I have the following problem:
I cannot use my headphones as the "voice output device". I can change it in the settings, but it doesn't have any effect at all. The voice output allways comes from the same device as the rest of my sound.

I think I have the problem since I upgraded to win 11. This was several weeks (and steam-updates) ago.

Has anyone an idea how to fix this?

Try selecting your headphones as the default output device in both Windows and Steam settings. Also, update your audio drivers and check for Windows updates. Sometimes restarting your PC helps too.

Hi Terminator,
thanks for the answer. I already did several restarts (problem occurs for a few weeks by now). Windows is "up to date".
If I change my default audio device to my headphones the voice chat moves to headphones. But the other sounds as well. When playing with friends I use my 5.1-system for the sound of the game and my headphones for voicechat. This is no longer possible.

I tested different sound-outputs with "default" and "headphones" with VLC. This was possible.
So my guess is that steam has a problem.
