Log out of Steam, restart the client, and check if the game is in your library if not, contact support.

When Steam says

> “This game doesn’t support Family Sharing”
even though you never enabled Family Sharing, it usually means Steam got confused about who owns the game license — often after:

a reinstall of Steam or Windows,

a region or account change, or

a temporary Steam Guard / login issue.

Steam then wrongly assumes the game belongs to another account (as if you were borrowing it).

---

now how to fix it

1. Fully log out and back in

In Steam → click Steam › Change Account → log out.

Log back in using the same account that bought the game.

Then try launching The Sims 4 or Sonic Racing again.

2. Check the “Account” tab in Properties

Right-click the game → Properties › Installed Files › Account (or “Ownership”).

Make sure it says “You own this game” or “This game is registered to your account.”
If it says it’s “shared by another account,” Steam is misreading your license.

3. Verify game files

Right-click the game → Properties › Installed Files › Verify integrity of game files.
Sometimes this resets ownership info after a reinstall or failed update.

4. Turn off Family Sharing completely (just in case)

Even if you never used it:

Go to Steam › Settings › Family

Make sure no accounts are authorized under Family Sharing.

Click “Manage Other Computers” → remove all devices.

Restart Steam.

5. Clear Steam’s license cache

1. Close Steam completely.

2. Press Win + R, type:

steam://flushconfig

3. Hit Enter, then restart Steam — don’t worry, it won’t delete your games, just refreshes account data.

6. Try launching from the game folder

For The Sims 4, open:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4

Run TS4_x64.exe manually — if it launches, the issue is just Steam’s license check.

---

If you bought the game on Steam (not added via EA App), these steps fix it in 99% of cases.
