when i launch a game i get the uac prompt
but i always press 'no' and the game still launches fine. so not sure what the prompt is trying to run. anyone know how to disable whatever steam is trying to do there?

the actual command is .../steamservice.exe /installscript <path to game>/runasadmin.vdf

it seems like steam temporarily creates that file before it tries to run that command.

but like i said that command succeeding is not necessary to run the game, so wondering what it's doing and how to disable it completely.

there is no reason that steam or any game should ever have to run as admin.

That has nothing to do with steam. This is a setting on windows 10 or 11. UAC means user account control. Talk to the administrator of your pc and ask them to elevate your profile on the pc. Your account must have some limits. Steam is only recognizing the UAC on your pc, and making appropriate changes to your game. Again, if you do not like it, contact the administrator of your pc.
