Download/update using other Disk than labeled?
Hey guys, im patching a game thats on my NVME currently, and its taking forever. i go to task manager, and see that my HDD storage drive is working overtime. My NVME is doing 0 work. i've gone to the Storage menu in Steam-settings, and ive verified that my game is infact installed on my NVME. Why is my HDD doing all the work if the game is installed on me NVME?

Is Steam installing on the HDD? It could be downloading first to where it's installed before patching?

Negative, game & steam client are both installed on NVME C: drive

Note that steam will patch games on the same drive by default

The only time it defers to a different drive is if the drive either doesn't have enough space, or the patching files would take the disk space too low. Bascially your c:\ doesn't have enough space to patch the game

Note that patching on an HDD or SSD is 99% of the time 'patching is slow' is because your anti-virus is constantly locking the file which drags the patching time down. Note that doing this process on different drives will in fact generally have more IO available as its doing reads and writes on different drives
