PS5 Controller Issues on Steam Big Picture and Games (Button Mapping & Erratic Inputs)
Hi everyone,
I’m having a problem with my PS5 controller when I connect it to my PC and use Steam in Big Picture mode. The buttons are mapped incorrectly: for example, the Start button is on Square and Back is on Triangle.
On top of that, when I launch certain games, things get even weirder:

In No Man’s Sky, as soon as the game starts, the character begins spinning and moving on its own.
In Hollow Knight, the camera is constantly pointing upward, as if the stick were stuck.

I’ve tried unplugging and reconnecting the controller, but the issue persists. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

For the first issue try resetting device inputs:
- have the controller connected
- Steam > Settings > Controller > Begin Test > Reset Device Inputs

Are things responding correctly in the test screen, are things OK in BP mode?
If OK in the test screen, I would expect BPM to also be OK.

For NMS, can you counter the spin and movement with the sticks?
If so, it could be you want to apply/increase deadzones (maybe in-game if there are options for it or via the controller layout).

For HK, do you have Steam Input enabled or disabled, are you connecting via USB or BT?
If Steam Input disabled and are using BT, check out this post:

From your post it sounds like USB though, so can you pull the camera level/down with Right Stick?
