Steam support asking for CD key which I dont have
I tried logging in to my old steam account to play gta 5 yesterday, and when I tried to logging it told me that I entered wrong email address. After checking I discovered that someone changed the email address connected to my old account. I contacted the support and they asked me for a wallet key/cd key which I used to add games to my account. I did use those codes/keys but that was more than 6 years ago and I haven't kept them after redeeming them. After telling them that I no longer have those keys and asking for other verification method, I just get assigned a new agent who asks me for same keys over and over again. Is there anything I can do? I still have access to the original email I used to make my account.

What do rockstar say about it they made GTA5 they are support steam is not.

ps.
if rockstart can confirm you are the owner then they might have the key already if they registrating such so many years ago.

we can not as usre recover your account here.

hey we other hear you, we have moved to digital DL age, to keep have old box games that take space, raise the issue at steam support they think you have few , others have 100 to 1000 box games maybe, im not sure ppl want today wall of boxes anymore.

i can't be the only one with cd-rom games, and late DVD games, it do take space.

If you dont have any of the proof Steam Support requires (CD KEY/game receipts from as long ago as possible) then they wont restore the account to you.
They legally cant, as you cant proof its yours. A simple email address is not enough.

Thats why you use the Steam Mobile app to login and have created emergency recovery codes to login to your account, no matter what.
Sadly most users dont think about account security or taking preemptive measurements till they are hit by a scam or an account hijacking.

It's a hassle. But you have to be able to prove ownership. After all if I huff and make Steam accept less proof for say, your account, and they give your account to me, you might not appreciate that screw up.

Now... Valve has no idea if you're trying to steal an account or just a hapless user who's had it stolen, or mismanged it in cases where people just lose access.
