EAC issues
I’m having a major issue launching both Rust and Arc Raiders, and the errors are identical. It originally started with Rust telling me “Please run the 64-bit version instead of the 32-bit version”, followed by an Easy Anti-Cheat authentication timeout. The exact EAC message was: “EasyAntiCheat_EOS failed to start. Error Code: 30005 (CreateFile failed with 32)”. I managed to bypass Rust launching in 32-bit mode and open the game itself, but I still couldn’t join any servers because EAC kept timing out. I uninstalled Rust completely and then installed Arc Raiders, but Arc Raiders is now showing the same behaviour—Steam flashes a console window, nothing opens, and I get the same “run the 64-bit version” prompt and the same Easy Anti-Cheat error. We went through deleting EAC folders, wiping Steam’s cached EAC services, fully removing the game directory, deleting Steam’s manifest files, and forcing Steam to reinstall everything from scratch. The current solution appears to be a full, clean reinstall so the correct Win64 folder and EasyAntiCheat folders can rebuild properly. Can someone help verify why both games are attempting to launch in 32-bit mode and failing to initialise EAC?

Which operating system are you running?

I’m running Windows 11 pro 25H2 and both Rust and ARC Raiders showed the exact same issue when trying to launch.
When I clicked Play, both games demanded a 64-bit launch, and both failed at Easy Anti-Cheat initialisation.

Errors seen

“You must launch the 64-bit version of the game.”

EAC authentication timed out

Fully deleted/reinstalled both games

Removed all EAC folders and reinstalled EAC manually

Manually recreated the EAC service using sc create (after fixing error 1072)

Deleted corrupted Steam appmanifest files

Cleared and rebuilt game directories

Ran the games directly from the Win64 folder

Verified files multiple times

Ran Steam as admin

BIOS changes: enabled Secure Boot, disabled CSM, ensured all firmware settings supported anti-cheat

Tried changing launch paths and letting Steam rebuild the runtime

And still i cant get it to work. AI helped me with these things but as you can see, it hasn't helped

Are you using a windows user account with limited privileges? Try running these games as administrator.

I’m already using a full Windows administrator account, and I’ve also tried launching both Steam and the games explicitly as administrator. It made no difference to either Rust or Arc Raiders.

I advise reinstallation of Windows then.
