Questions about the Steam Deck
I’m thinking about buying one, but there are a few things I’d like to know before making a decision.

Could someone who owns a Steam Deck help me with a few questions, please?

Does it track playtime the same way as Steam on PC? And when I close it, does the game stay running in the background? If it does, does the background time still count as playtime?

How does it interact with my PC account? Is it possible to play on the Steam Deck and then continue later on the PC?

How does it work when it’s offline? Does it run normally or does it need a constant internet connection?

When it’s offline, how do its features work? Does it track playtime normally and then sync with Steam servers once it goes online?

And what about achievements when it's offline? Does it register them normally? Or does it not count them at all? Or does it register them but only update them when it goes online, making them all appear as unlocked at the same time?

It functions just like your PC in every regard.

If you play in offline mode, even on PC, your time is not counted.

Achievements earned offline may update as soon as you go back online, but that is really dependent on the game dev. Most do update as soon as you go online from what I've seen. They will be dated when Steam sees them unlocked, not when you unlocked them during playtime. Again, this is the same on PC.

If a game utilizes Steam cloud to sync save files, you should be able to pick up where you left off when switching devices. Some games do not and those you would have to manually update saves between systems. I normally don't bother with those when I learn of one.

Maybe I'll use my mobile data when I play away from home.
