[FIXED] steam won't start because of the steamwebhelper pops up
Hey guys,

My steam worked perfectly 2 days ago and all of a sudden, it didn't work and the steamwebhelper keeps popping up.

I tried:
-reinstalling
-restarting steam (as steam suggested us to do)
-run admin, check the compatibility

NOTHING WORKED
so my friends helped me by introducing me to this website and it worked perfectly.
I still have to do this method like everyday but it's better than not working so.

It's in Japanese so to those who can't read them, here are the steps below:
1. Open "Task Manager"→Performance Tab then look at the bottom and click "Open Resource Monitor"
2. After you opened the "Open Resource Monitor", open the tab "Details" from the "Task Manager" (Yes, don't close the window)
3. As soon as you open steam, look at the "Open Resource Monitor" and look for "steam.exe". If you find it, monitor your Details tab from the Task Manager. When you see "steamwebhelper" pops up from the "Details" tab, on the "Open Resource Monitor", quickly right click "steam.exe" and hit "Suspend Process". Wail for 1~2 mins.
4. Wait until the "steamwebhelper" stops increasing memory.
5. If it settles, again right click "steam.exe" (It should be at the top in blue) "Resume Process".

This helped me everytime whenever it doens't launch steam. I don't know why steam is acting up like this so suddenly,and it's very frustrating. I hope it works out for you but if it doesn't, please don't blame it on me and the person who figured this solution out.

I'm going to directly translate from this helpful man why we have to wait:

"Steamwebhelper is a component that is launched by Steam itself when Steam starts. It looks like Chromium is running inside.
Steam waits a few seconds for this webhelper to be completely launched, and only after confirming that the webhelper has been launched, Steam starts up the main unit.

The startup logs showed that webhelper started up normally, but when it takes longer than it's expected by Steam to start up, it causes an error.
Therefore, it seemed to me that either make “webhelper start up faster” or “wait for Steam onger”"

This does work! However, it is extremely frustrating that this is the process we will need to take just to open Steam. I really appreciate this post!

For how useless Steam has been and how cluttered the other threads have become it's obvious that a new thread with this "temp fix" would be easier to see and fk Steam.

Now maybe you should be bashing the real culprits here, not the OP but Steam themselves.

Ok this is the only fix that worked for me. Also I see a lot of hard faults for steamwebhelper processes in resource monitor, so maybe memory allocation issues?

Hello everyone, after a 3-day struggle, I finally succeeded on my side. I saw that every time I turned on my PC, I had Asus Armoury Crate launching at the same time, and after some research, I saw that for some people it could slow down the PC. Being on a desktop PC, I decided to uninstall everything that came from Asus, having only the motherboard from them. I restarted the PC and since then, no more problems launching Steam.
I'm on a desktop PC.

i want to add to the asus crate solution, I deinstalled ASUS Crate, and steam does work now.

Also a lot of other apps/programms do work/start instantly now (citra, citrus to name a few) and different games do start instantly too now (Eu4, stardew valley+smapi for example) so asus crate did have a giant impact on my system. maybe something to delete for everyone who has that on his system.

This appears to have solved it for me, hopefully it stays resolved over the next few days.

unistall and close all that has to do with asus and armory crate was the (everything!!) was the only sollution for me thanks to this thread i was able to fix it (kisses)

This fixed my issue. As soon as Armoury Crate was uninstalled Steam started up for me quicker than it had in weeks. Thanks for the help!

God bless you, I've been battling with this issue all day with none of the other fixes working. Uninstalled this and it worked instantly.
