Boyfriend's Save Files Gone?
My boyfriend and I had to take his gaming computer to Best Buy, and they wiped the computer, which shouldn't have been an issue since Steam Cloud Save should, in theory, save your game progress, right? We got it home and most every game is wiped. We are re-downloading Monster Hunter, his favorite game and I am seriously praying his data is still there. Every game says "up to date" but we're finding it to so far not be the case. Shouldn't they be there regardless of computer being wiped? Isn't that the point of Steam Cloud Saves? I don't know lots about computers but idk.

Not all games keep saves in steam cloud, i guess
It should be fine with most modern games

There's only a few very specific reasons for Best Buy(or anyone else) to wipe a hard drive.
Can you discuss the nature of the problem that inspired you to bring it to them? But thats an entirely different battle you can fight Best Buy on later...

Most steam games support cloud saves. You'll have to examine the store page to see if it has cloud saves. Its not guaranteed to automatically be there for every game on steam.
Seems that those Monster Hunter games all have Cloud Saves, so you're in luck.
