Beeping + Unresponsive mouse. Please help!
I recently got a new laptop and the first week I played games fine with it, then I had a wierd problem, my mouse would freeze up and rapid beeping would play though my headphones, the only (temporary) fix I found was to unplug it and plug it back in. Now it happens at least twice a day, Sometimes it would happen a few times within an hour, or not at all. Recently its just been about 1 or 2 a day. I've looked around the internet everywhere, and have found numerous posts saying "I did this and that, and I havent had the probem in weeks" I then try it, and I'll still have the problem.

My laptop specs:
Toshiba Tecra
Intel core i3-4000M Dual core processor
500GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
6GB memory
Windows 7 64 bit

My mouse:
Logitech g402 hyperion fury

I'm not very good with computers but I've had this problem for over a month now, and It's really starting to piss me off, in the middle of a fire fight and I click, no response then the beeps start, and my mouse will still move but with very very high lag, another thing is my keyboard is still usable. I know others can't use their keyboard or mouse when they have this probem. I'm sorry for the long post but I've no where else to go to fix this problem, I'd like to try and not spend money on this.

Also if you're not sure on what exactly my problem is, here is exactly what happens to me:

Any feedback is highly appreciated, thanks.

Wow, this one's going to be a nightmare to track down, in all likelihood (I know that's not going to sound good).

It could be a whole number of things, but the best bet to do in such circumstances is to list some possibiities and try to eliminate them.

My first thoughts are dodgy drivers - if your keyboard's USB, a dodgy driver that keeps switching the mouse on and off will mess with the USB hub and therefore your keyboard. So, first thing I'd do is see if there's either newer drivers, or some custom ones someone's made. Might involve a fair bit of Googling though.

Secondly, possiby the most common issue - bad USB connection. USB connectors are great in that they're lovely and universal. However, from an engineering standpoint, it's a bit weak, as they rely on friction and force to maintain contact. Over time, that will weaken.

If the USB connector doesn't fit VERY snugly and can be moved at all whilst connected, it could simply be down to this (I've had it a number of times myself - your clicking can cause small virations or movement, enough to mess with it).

There is a quick and easy bodge you can do if this is affecting you - either take the mouse USB plug and VERY VERY gently squeeze the metal shroud (by less than a millimeter) so it makes the connection as tight as possible. You can alternatively bite the thing (as I've done) but for obvious reasons I wouldn't recommend it.

That's the most obvious things I can think of at the moment. See how you get on with them, and get back.

sorry for necroposting, have you ever found a solution to this problem? or you just simply walk away with it until you upgrade the entire system?

Haha I don't even remember this post, 10 years ago wow. Yeah I don't own that laptop or mouse anymore, hardly remember experiencing this issue.

I am in IT now :D so I'll give you some possible solutions off the top of my head:

- Update the mice drivers and/or software
- Do a fresh install of the drivers/software, revouninstaller is good for purging everything from a specific software
- Update your OS
- Check your cables are plugged in all the way, try other ports
- Watch your task manager when it's happening, could indicate that some of your hardware is being overloaded
- Make sure your device is getting enough airflow, if it's a laptop could raise it up on a book or something, if it's desktop with a case make sure all the fans are spinning and clear of dust

If all else fails try different mice, or consider getting new hardware. From my little research after seeing your comment, it looks like it's a hardware failure. This post talks about electromagnetic interference on the audio chip, althought it doesn't seem to be the same issue.

I would also encourage you to continue researching, there is likely someone out there with a solution that worked for them, and will for you too. Google's advanced search [www.google.com] is great for finding specific and niche webpages. Try looking for your mouse model or maybe your hardware, get specific. Good luck!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
