Debit cards do not work for age verification.
https://psteamhelp.yuanyoumao.com/en/faqs/view/292B-3DA3-CFC8-97F6
Oh godammit... thanks for the clairification. This verification crap is pissing me off
Guess i better start using credit cards now
i wish steam woud allow the post offices 18+ ID as these are more acesible to people, and you arent running into risk of getting into debt with it, so its almost like encouraging debt by only alowing credit card.
this 18+ ID is great,i use it for geting into night clubs that are strict on searching,im in a wheelchair,im 41 so way past 18 but aparently look like a kid and have suport staff with me who spend weeks having to sort out acesibility details with each night club i go to,they also know my age but the security are just being super strict as they might have been caught out letting in youths and they can get fined for that.
this ID is acepted by the police, shops and the entertainment industry plus you can use it to fly to destinations within the UK. if all of those allow it why cant steam acept this card,as you have to prove your age with this one and have 2 high up profesional referees vouch for you to.
Valve is very averse to storing/linking to personal information. They collect only what's necessary for billing purposes. Beyond that, they'd rather not, and with good reason. Look at some of the recent news stories regarding Discord and users using VPNs.
Discord says 70,000 age-verification ID photos may have been leaked in recent security breach that also includes names, usernames, emails, credit cards, and IP addresses

And to be honest, that's only going to be the beginning.
Say if I were interested in doing this and I used my debit card, I could obviously not verify. And I don't have credit cards because I'm on disability benefits.
That's a direct breach of the law.
What other methods are there for verification?
So Valve are in breach of the law for not accepting other forms of verification but the banks aren't for preventing people on disability benefits from accessing banking services?
They haven't, it's not being disabled than stops you getting a credit card, it's being on benefits, millions of disabled people both work and have credit cards.
(Not that I mean that in a bad way, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a disabled person claiming the benefits they deserve and certainly shouldn't be excluded from anything for it.)
None. But with a nic likes yours i am not surprised at the comment
