What 3rd party? Those links above are Steam links. If you follow those feeds, you'll get them in your notifications.

I mean you likely just missed the notification which is why i linked to the official news about it. If you're not receiving said news, you likely arent subscribed to it.

Again the steam client update was a notification. Its likely you just missed it, or you don't have steam news notifications on. If you want to be 'notified' about something, then well you have to turn on the thing that does that
