Steam freezes on first launch after booting the PC
When I turn on my computer and launch Steam for the first time, the system freezes.
The symptoms are: the mouse cursor stops moving and then suddenly jumps to a random spot a few seconds later, the spinning loading cursor also freezes, and the taskbar starts to slide down but gets stuck.

When I play Steam games, there are no issues at all.

From what I found online, it was recommended to disable hardware acceleration or overlay settings, but I already tried those with no effect. Event Viewer also shows no errors at the time of the freeze, and the dumps or reports folders in Steam don’t contain any errors either.

The freeze happens both when Steam auto-starts and when I launch it manually. To rule out conflicts with Discord or other programs, I even reset Windows using the diskpart clean command and installed only Steam, but the freezing still occurred.

My system is Ryzen 7 5700X3D, RTX 4070 SUPER, 32GB RAM, so it makes no sense that such freezes are happening. BIOS, AMD drivers, NVIDIA drivers, LAN, audio drivers, and Windows are all fully up to date.

What makes me even more frustrated is that everything was working perfectly fine just about a month ago, and then suddenly this freezing issue started. I have already contacted Steam Support and tried all the suggested solutions, but none of them worked.

Please, I really need help.

I've been having this same problem for a few days. It only lasts a second. I also barely turn on my PC and Steam launches. After that, I have no problems. If I disable Steam so it doesn't launch when I turn on my PC, the error disappears. It's clearly a Steam issue. From the time it's been happening, it seems like it's been happening for the same amount of time. Perhaps it's related to the new Steam store or an update. Hopefully, they'll fix it soon. It seems we're not alone...

Have the same issue but for battlenet/ other gamelaunchers as well. Only happens once after starting the pc. Everything else works perfectly fine.
It's been happening to me too, for quite a while now, even before the store update. I haven't found any solution so far. It's annoying. I have the same CPU btw.
When you said updated is that from Brand board support place or windows update.

we have seen before steam user think when windows is update then PC is, huge mistake in think such.

a BIOS and even chipset driver has been seen before not get update from MS and it never will.

ps.
Dont expect any here anymore will tell you things like that because auto upfdate app is made to alot next gen PC so its done automatic today, also why no one will post it anymore.

and still your job to test do that app work as it should. ( we have seen app that do not update anymore )

Turn off discord and other overlay from other apps as test.

turn off all that extra new FPS counter also as test, some few steam user post have issue with them if you even have enable them at all.

ps.
This is also know as safe boot mode. ( try test for interference issue. )
