Help! Market Error "Sorry! We had trouble hearing back from the Steam servers..."
When attempting to buy items from the community market, I get the following error message:

"Sorry! We had trouble hearing back from the Steam servers about your order. Double check whether or not your order has actually been created or filled. If not, then please try again later."

I have no market restrictions on my account, and I was able to use the market just fine a few days ago. This issue has been happening today and yesterday, both on the Steam app and in the browser version. I went into the mobile authenticator and approved confirmation requests associated with the market purchases, but then I just get the same error again anyway when I try again. My orders won't go through, and I just get the error message each time I try.

Has anyone else been experiencing this, and does anyone know of a potential fix?

Deleting data or clearing cache didn’t fix it for me, but buying a single item did. After I confirmed that first purchase through Steam Guard, buying sets worked again. I’m guessing the bulk option just wasn’t authenticating properly or routing to steam guard in any way.

Use client only for market, i have seen old post with steam user post that notice browser issue and mobil issue.

and old post i have no clue if them old advice still stand, and we cant fix your CD ( Cooldown )
but there is no point refresh it with none steam device or thirdpåart browser.

To clarify, by app I meant the desktop client version. It does not work on the desktop client version, either.
Also, I couldn't find a solution in those links

It could just be an ISP issue. An outage is obvious, but there's lots of subtle issues that could be occurring.

There's also lots of variables between you and steam and if any of those is down you might see thibgs not work.

There's other options too. Some of them all you can is be patient. Unless you find the root cause, which is still an unknown, it's hard to do anything but throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. Although sometimes you can get lucky with a solid guess.

lol that a new one "Throw spaghetti at the wall" just because joke is not allowed, still funny at the issue not the person.

Steam server has alot of temporary bugs in the last half years,

Dont forget, get out of steam beta or test beta if they have fix something, ( to stay in BETA forever can also give you issue they did not intended doing a hotfix. this is a well know issue with BETA version from the past.

UPDATE:

For me at least, the issue seems to only occur when using the option to "buy remaining cards" when crafting badges. Buying cards or other items after individually searching for them on the market hasn't caused any issue, although it's possible that I had a lucky break and the issue may not be as limited as it appeared to me.

I would also like to note that I have not opted into any beta tests on Steam.

Try periodically pressing the F5 key to refresh page.

I tried refreshing the page numerous times, but it didn't seem to help. Thank you for the suggestion, though

The issue seems to have cleared up for me after a few days. Maybe I'm just lucky, though. I'm still not sure what the exact cause might be, but given how buggy Steam can be, I'm guessing it's an issue on Steam's end that we don't have much control over :\

Thanks for the tip. I've also been having trouble buying trading cards for days, and so far I've only tried to buy all the remaining cards at once. It works when buying them individually, at least. :steamhappy:

same issue here for about 5 days now, been just hoping it would fix itself
For people with the same problem, try Steam -> Settings -> In Game -> Delete Web Browser Data, then buy one card instead of bulk from "buy remaining cards" option, though bulk purchase also worked for me afterwards. Before wiping cache and cookies, I couldn't buy anything at all.
