Verification won't work

I keep trying to launch tf2 but it keeps verifying it
I've seen fixes such as checking the content logs but that says everything is fine and there's no issues yet it still won't load
Is there a possible fix without wiping steam and starting again
First time playing and installing this game so it's probably not a save game issues

Delete the hl2.exe file in the TF2 folder, then verify game files again.

Try adding -autoconfig to TF2's launch options in Steam. It resets settings and often fixes launch issues.

That caused it to wait 5 seconds before starting validation

Delete the steam_appid.txt file from the TF2 folder, add -novid -autoconfig -console to launch options, then run Steam as administrator and disable antivirus temporarily before launching the game.
