But if someone other then you joined, even just for a few minutes that means you will get the 1 year cooldown when you disolve the family.
Sadly no. As soon as you have at least 2 members the family is "locked in"so to speak.
You will have to wait the full 1 year before you can join or create another family.
And even Steam Support can not shorten the cooldown, users have asked before and the answer was that the cooldown system is fully automatic and Steam Support has no access to it at all.
I have the same issue with my brother he accidentally created a a family instead of joining mine so he dissolved that one and tried to join my but then it said that it failed to join family because recent steam activity suggest we are not in the same household.
"Not the same household" is a different thing.
I don't know the order in which problems are reported, though. It might still be possible that once the "same household" is cleared, Steam might then complain about an active cooldown because of being in a different family before.
Does your brother use a VPN?
