SEAGATE FIRECUDA GAMING HUB
I'm about to build a High End Computer. And would like to hook this hub up to my new computer when its built. 3 years ago i had no problem transfering game files from one computer to another, lately its fracking impossible to do that without having to download the entire game all over again, which is why i purchases the gaming hub. Now! once i have put steam on the new system and hook up the gaming hub to it. and once i've directed steam to see the hub what are the chances i will have to download all my games again? I easily have over a 1 Tb of game on it!

Network hubs are outdated since the millennium. Buy a switch. Aside from thst, buy a normal switch. Gaming switches, audiophile switches, all snakeoil.

That's just a fancy name for an external HDD. Not network equipment.

You'd be surprised at the amount of esoteric nonsense that exists.

What exactly is the problem? If you've got an external storage device, just plug it into the old computer and copy the Steam directory to it. Then plug it into the new computer and copy the Steam directory to that PC. For best results, don't run games off of external storage devices, and don't install Steam into C:\Program Files (x86) . This is a directory managed by Windows. You don't want your games managed. Put Steam in C:\Games or something like that.

Network the old and new machines together and load the game over the network from old to new.

What is your goal after all? To use a specific device, or to transfer games between machines without re-downloading over the internet?

Proably pointless to comment now, the dock, that had 8tb of hdd built in, but has a ssd nvme expansion slot, yeah?
Its essentially a thunderbolt 3 docking station with ssd upgrade slot. (Impossible to locate now apparently, this as much as I could locate)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
