Does anyone else experience lag using Steam on Firefox?
I've been a Firefox user since 2011 and don't have issues with most websites. Haven't had issues with the browser over the years on multiple different computers either. Steam, for the most part, is perfectly fine and usable as well, in fact - I'm typing this whole post on Firefox.

However, whenever I enter the Points Shop or view a Steam Broadcast, it becomes insanely laggy. Like, to the point where my PC feels like it's struggling to render it, despite me having a pretty good computer (specs below).

Here's the kicker - when I view these things on the Steam app itself, it's totally fine. Even on Chromium-based browsers like Edge or Brave - it's perfectly fine. It's only the moment I go back on Firefox that it craps itself.

I tried using the UserAgent spoofer plugin and trick Steam to think I'm using a Chromium browser, but it doesn't seem as though that makes a difference. Makes me think it's a Firefox issue as well.

I've attempted to enable/disable GPU acceleration, neither have provided sufficient results. I've also attempted to isolate the issue by disabling all of my browser add-ons, including uBlock Origin, and those haven't provided any respite either. Only thing I haven't tried is a fresh Firefox launch, which I'm hesitant to do since I have so many logins saved, etc., though I could try to make a new local user account and use Steam through that to see if my browser really is just cluttered. Before that, I want to know if there's anyone else in the same boat as me.

Here are my PC specs to weed out those who think "oh its just your pc, get a new one":
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200mhz
GPU: Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
OS: Windows 11 22H2

Everything's installed on an nVME SSD.

Nope. No issues here. I've been on Firefox since it was Netscape, and I'm running an old low-end laptop with a Ryzen 3500u right now. Just browsed through the points shop, bought a keyboard for the Steam Deck, scrolled through some animated stickers, and loaded up a broadcast (which is playing right now in the background) and everything is snappy.

That is so strange, honestly. Do you use any extensions? I've already mentioned having disabled them for no results, but I'm wondering why it works fine for you and works like sewer water for me.

Nothing crazy. UBlock Origin, Augmented Steam, a few others.

In terms of Steam stuff, I have SteamDB and CSGOTrader. Disabling these made no difference for me so I'm not sure.

I have others like:
7TV, Return YouTube Dislike, Web Scrobbler for Lastfm and Sponsorblock, as well as the aforementioned UserAgent Spoofer. And no, disabling all of these made no difference for me either.

Really curious. I'll make a test account on my computer and try to log into Steam on Firefox and test again.

No issues here either. And i also use uBlock Origin and Augmented Steam and a few others unrelated to Steam.

I tested it on a new user account, works fine here.

Here's what I tried so far:
I deleted my Firefox cache completely (2.3 GB lol), made no difference.
I then turned off Wallpaper Engine (I have 3 separate Wallpapers), and after doing that - it seems as though it started to work fine?

I guess Wallpaper Engine was the issue, but my question is why aren't Chromium-based browsers affected by it? It just keeps getting weirder.

I'm also having this issue. The forums are fine, but store pages feel laggy to scroll like the computer is crapping itself. Did you ever figure out what was causing it?
Fluddy! 11 月 15 日 下午 1:09
Having this same exact issue. The top half/portion of the page with the video player is super slow/laggy. If I scroll down past it, it feels like normal. I tried turning off all extensions and had the same result. (big ones would just be ublock origin and augmented steam, anyway.)

Other browsers don't share this issue, so it's definitely something on Firefox. Not really sure. It wasn't the case before, so maybe when the steam webstore had it's overhaul something happened and the current version of firefox (145.0) hates it?

I'm having this issue and it started recently. I only noticed it today.
also having the same issue since the new steam store page width changes

The previous user didn't yet cooperate. But now that you are at it, let's do a test:

Go to this website and watch the video:

While watching the video, go to the lower-right in the video. You might see three symbols. If so, activate the third symbol. (This could make the video full screen.)

Does the video display at normal frame rates when you make it full screen?

While watching the video, move your mouse cursor to the lower-right of the video. (You might see a "gear"-icon, a rectangle-icon, and another rectangle-icon with openings on all sides.)
If you see these icons, click or tap the rectangle-icon that has openings on all sides. (This could make the video full screen.)

The question is:
Does the video play at normal frame rates when you make it full screen?
This thread is almost over 2 years old and not that relevant to me anymore, mainly because I have since pivoted from Windows to Linux.

Others can feel free to thread-jack this for whoever needs it though.

Yes, normal frame rate while full screen.
