Can you use XBOX impulse trigger motors on steam?
Hi all,

I recently bought the Starfield XBOX controller and noticed it has impulse triggers as I have heard them called.
I bought this controller solely for PC use, as I don't have an XBOX.
I can't seem to get the trigger motors to actually do anything though and can't find a definitive answer online on if they are supported with steam games.

I have noticed there is a setting in steam for extended feature support. Do I need this?
Or are these motors not supported?

You mean the rumble in the triggers?
I only have that in one car game.

Yes, those can be used on PC. The game must support them though. The list of such games is rather short.

As you can see, Starfield does not support them.

So is there a trick to getting it working?
I downloaded Mad Max which is on the list and it does not ever use the triggers as far as I can see.

There was a topic about it long ago. Someone said it might work in certain conditions, if you disable steam controller settings and load a dll for xinput 2.0 or something. Not an official download.

But that is nothing i could recommend.

I disable rumble normally. It distracts from the game. The game which had this trigger rumble was not on steam btw.
So i know it exists, but it made no sense to me.

Disabling Steam Input for that particular game should be enough.

Are you sure Mad Max even supports those? I bet it doesn't.

Are you sure Mad Max even supports those? I bet it doesn't.

According to the website that posted above it does, that's why I was using it to test in the first place.

No, not that I could find a way to get it to work. Ended up buying a PS5 controller later which works great though.

I read your post again and you tried to use the Xbox controller on 2 games that don’t have rumble support according to the wiki but I own gears 5 on steam and it’s not working for me. I’m using the Xbox controller wirelessly and tried to turn steam input on and off. But I don’t notice anything
