Where can I see free games in my library?
I have noticed this issue a few times: I will add a free game to my library without installing (by just ushing "add to the library" button), but it will be nowhere to be seen in the library to install later.

Recently I have been browsing games, and found a couple I thought were cute that were free. Added them to the library quickly fir later installation, but steam only shows games I paid for or free that were played previously. How do I find thise free ones from before if they don't appeat in the library?

Launch the Steam client and go to your library. Click on the weird icon on the far right of the search bar. That brings up a menu to filter the results. Near the bottom, there's an input field labeled "store tags". Type in "free to play" and click on the check box. You can also click on "unplayed" under "play state" if you want.
Wow, it actually worked with the "Free to play" tag, and I didn't know you could filter by Unplayed, that's also useful to also check paid games I own and I haven't played yet! Many thanks!

I don't know if the Free to play tag is 100% reliable so I'll have to pay attention to Free games without the tag. It doesn't follow the convention on the rest of the website (where Free means 100% free and Free to play means free with microtransactions) but that works for the specific entries I was looking at anyway.

Ideally we'd have a filter for prices including (true) Free and Free-to-play, but I don't see anything such at the moment.

EDIT: found a few free games without the Free to play tag, esp. game "Prologues". For demos, check https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1g41u0x/how_to_find_demos_after_adding_them_to_your/

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
