(solved) Invalid SSL Certificate
"Invalid SSL Certificate" is the only text I see for a week now whenever I try to reach the in-client Store or the client chat/friends list.

I have no idea how to fix this, as the usual tricks on the net (reset clock etc) don't work. I also don't know where/how to force the Steam client to re-fetch the certificate.

The current certificare is issued by some grocery stor or something, so I understand why it fails to verify,

1) Ensure that the time / date / timezone on your OS is correct, and then do a re-boot.

2) If the above is fine, change the DNS settings on your OS to Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS.

3) Clear Steam's web cache.

No. 2 is very common, and the error is surprisingly caused frequently by DNS issues or the incorrect time / date.

Wrong system is one possible explanation. You having adware seems more likely though.
Maybe try Malwarebytes itself or https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
And start using an adblocker. I'd recommend uBlock Origin. That one has Firefox and Chrome versions out there.

hello! i am currently struggling with this issue on linux (zorin, which for all intensive purposes can be considered ubuntu i believe), i have done all of the above (i switched to google's DNS) and i still have the problem :(
it only started yesterday, before that everything was perfectly fine
