You might want to buy a calendar with the money you intend to spend on the sale :)

Well it is December in Denmark at least and for me a Christmas calender starts on december 1 then what am I missing?

ah, an advent calendar. I don't think Steam does that. The Winter Sale starts Dec 20 supposedly.

Yeah.

Well they should do that then ;) every store in Denmark starts to decorate for Christmas in late October which is far to early when december comes though I get in the Christmas spirit and it would be nice for Steam to at least change the user interface so it is a bit christmassy to spread the cheer.
(An Advent Calender in Denmark is one where you either get a present or open a slot on the 4 Sundays before Christmas)

The past two Christmas sales have started actually around Christmas (20th Dec). It's only the 7th.

In addition to this, we had the Autumn Sale just a week or so ago... And we've currently got the small Big Picture sale still going.

Oh I got that it starts on the 20th I would just like some Christmas decorations to mark that we are in the month of Christmas. And maybe take an Advent Calender into account in next years budget. This is just an idea you can use I for one think it would go down well.

It could certainly go down well for someone who cares about Chrismas.

I, personally, don't think Christmas decorations on the website before the sale starts is necessary.

Also, what would the advent calendar include? If it's daily deals, you get multiples of those in the sale. If it's free games, why would a business give out free games?

Finally, not everyone celebrates Christmas, and many of those who do do not care for advent calendars. In addition to this, a month long sale would just be silly.

People who don't celebrate Christmas are weird and inscrutable. I tried to scrute them once and I failed badly, let me tell you.

Well an advent calender could be sales or a free game for the day like the weekend sales it could be a lottery where you pick up tickets every day or just a picture of the day wallpaper. It could be whatever your saledepartment wan't it to be it would just be an extra reason to log on everyday. For me it would just be nice to see christmas cheer on my favourite game site in December.

Edit it could even be optional if you have another religion you could just turn the Christmas theme of if that is possible.

Come the Christmas sale here, I think you'll realise that what Valve currently do for their big sales is more than enough and your advent calendar idea isn't really necessary. ;)

I just think december 20th is a bit late. Stores and shops don't say well we just had a halloween sale I think we will push the christmas sale till a couple of days before christmas they have their sale in all of December (And even before that) helping to lift the Christmas spirit with decorations and music. I love the big sales Valve do and this is no slight on them I would just like some Christmas feel in December is all.
