Being able to message anyone, regardless of friend status.
Yes people will send rude messages. BUT I CANT CONTACT A MODDER AND ASK THEM TO UPDATE THEIR MOD WHEN THEY GET A CHANCE. Wtf, there has to be a middle ground. The fact that I cant message someone who isnt on my firends list is so stupid. Honestly I would prefer the modder to respond and say they wont update, and that Im a loser, than this no contact BS. QOL mods need to be updated, and maybe the modder forgot they made the mod, theres no harm in sending them a msg that says "What up with this mod big dog?" Then the modder could tell me to ♥♥♥♥ off themselves, and the issue is resolved, the mod wont get updated. this no contact, no possibilty for communication is smooth brain as hell.

Yeah no. I don't want to be harassed by scamming bots. Thank you.

If the modder TRUELY cared about being available for those questions. He would leave contact details (email for example) on the modpage or a readme file.

You can, in group chats.

For Steam Workshop, the Workshop item has a comment section.

But yes, even you yourself with all caps can be seen as haras.

That is an odd strategy but a very thoughtful one, if messages between non-friends would be allowed, there would be a swarm of bots and scammers preying on almost everyone, imagine getting 20 scam messages everyday. It would cause Valve a lot of trouble that could later led up to organizations who target major social platforms with purpose of enforcing "behaviors" to set sights on Steam and turn it into garbage using law and its legal loops.

As for now, Steam is our little private joy playground bubble without much influence from external sources such as politics, if you want it to stay that way, you got to respect it in the form as it is now.
