My kids don't seem to be earning trading cards even on games owned by their accounts
Can anyone help me figure this out? Both of my boys are part of our "family sharing" account. I own most of the games. But they own some of them too. My youngest son's account is probably limited still. But my oldest son's account definitely shouldn't be - he's put money into his steam wallet (over $100) and purchased games from the steam store. He's played several games that have trading cards, for dozens of hours, and he hasn't received any card drops.

Now that I think about it, he *may* not have played those games since the time his account was unlimited. Because I'm not sure when he started adding wallet money and buying his own games. Does that have an effect?

Also, neither of them have set up a "Steam Community Profile" yet.

Please help me figure out what might be causing them to not earn trading cards.

Thanks!

The quickest way to rule that out would be to launch one of the games where you think this might be the case.

Set up the profile first for the one who hasn't.

As for the other, limited accounts can't get card drops.

Maybe that's for the better. I wouldn't want mine to be hooked to stuff like that.

Sheltering your kids and trying to pretend to them that this kind of stuff don't exist is ten times worse. What you should be doing is teaching them those things exist, why it is bad and what they can do to protect themselves. Otherwise it is only a question of time before they actually get explosed to whatever and at that point they'll be both taken by surprise and completely defenseless against it.

If the profile s unlimited, but the library is private. Then that'd be the answer.

The library isn't private and only marking individual games Private explicitly will do this.

2 different privacy features altogether.
