Justice for HORSES! (Repost because I think this sub-forum is more intended for this type of post)
Steam, and by extention Valve, should be ashamed of themselves! You guys let garbage smut in your platform featuring sexual exploitation to arouse the player, but not a non sexual game trying to make a statement about how that's bad? A game about how power dynamics makes humans treat others as sub-human?

I thought this platform supported artistic freedom and expression! You pleople at Valve know the power that your platform has on someones paycheck and you do this to hard working artists? Especially to a studio that might close down because of this? Shame on you and your censorship!

By the way, I'm not saying you should stop platforming the smut slop, because that is also artistic freedom that should be protected since it's a work of fiction. All I'm saying is that it's a bad look to have double standards.

No idea what video game you're raving about and judging from the context, I'm not sure I even want to know, but in a way you're saying that child porn or excuse me "non-sexual images that are trying to make a statement about how sexual exploitation of children is bad" should then also be protected as it too would technically fall under artistic freedom and therefore should protected as work of fiction?

However this type of argument does not work because as you can see, you can easily switch out a horse for child or something else. If something is illegal, you can't just justify it by claiming you're doing it for some greater good. It's still illegal.

Steam btw has to conform to both international law and the law of any country they do business with or else they do not qualify for licenses and permits that allow them to sell products. Which is why some games are available in some countries and regions, and not in others. It's not up to Steam.

Oh and since these forums you posted in are user-to-user forums, Steam moderators will likely not see this unless someone decides to report your post. And even if they would see it, they rarely interact with the community the way developer appointed moderators do.

Valve has actually started the process of cleaning up their act and storefront. Frankly folks on this forum have been complaining for months about de-listings. This storefront welcomes users that are as young as thirteen, and the owner operator has to know younger users are also present.

Private storefronts have no obligation to artistic anything. They aren't a public forum, venue, or some kind of trust. Your local big box retailer isn't despicable for deciding to not sell nudie mags at their checkout lanes. This is manufactured drama pure and simple.

This game developer could sell the game themselves on their own website. There are also plenty of other digital storefronts that are far less discerning. Valve as it is getting ready to move on into the console space likely has an eye to becoming more family friendly.

Frankly if this is the kind of art that appeals to you, and you prefer to enjoy this kind of thing here. I'd suggest that you look at the games that remain, and purchase those titles before they end up de-listed. Valve appears to be giving collectors a grace period.

Once again this is manufactured drama. This game sounds like a variety of snuff. I'd honestly be shocked had they let it through, and the only reason that content creators are covering this. Has everything to do with the need to turn molehills into mountains for views.

Well said.

I'm talking about the upcoming horror game called HORSES. It's touches heavy subject matters like the ones I just mentioned, It's not erotic at all. It's about to release on GOG in 6 hours from now. They tried to have it on the Steam store from in 2023 when the game was still in development when Valve rejected them!

That is a double standard because Steam as degenerate stuff ment to turn you on. This game wants to disturb you, like a horror game should!.
Freedom of association is a ♥♥♥♥♥, ain't it? Shame that's a freedom so many people forget exists.

That is why the parental settings exist. Of course, they can be easily defeated...

About the "snuff" thing you said, there is an upcoming game called Tormentor on Steam that is a literal torture simulator! By your logic you shold be quaking with shock. Tormentor is made by the same people who made Agony by the way. Why can they have their games published on steam, but not a game that tries to be expressionist art and wants to tell a message like HORSES?

Your argument makes no sence.
Based just on what I've heard I think the intended message is basically to commentate on animal slavery by juxtaposing the animals with humans. Reminds me of the PETA-style stuff.

Like others have said, the intent is to disturb you, not titilate.

But as the slippery slope goes, it' didn't stop and it'll keep going after this; and the people who pretend not to see that probably secretly support where the slope ends anyways.

Then why is Tormentor on the storefront? A meaningless torture simulator? Double standards is a ♥♥♥♥♥, ain't it? Shame that's a thing so many people forget exists.

Arbitrary power is most easily established upon the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.

And? Their store, they get the right to determine what is and isn't on the store. Not you. Not I.

Saying that they can make the decision feels like a way to avoid saying whether you agree with the decision or not.

That would imply that I either agree or disagree. I'm ambivalent.

I get that it's shocking that the world isn't a binary, but people are capable of being the dirtiest N-word on the internet: Nuanced.

Like so, I believe in creative freedom in that people can create what they want. But I also believe in freedom of association meaning that people can choose whether or not they want to be associated with that creation or creator. And I will vehemently defend both rights so long as no laws are being broken.

What I'm trying to say is that there are worse things being sold on the storefront. I see no reason why HORSES shouldn't also be sold on Steam. It's inconsistent with the things Valve let's being sold on Steam, that are objectibly worse in the things that happen in their games and the kind of expirience they want out of the player. HORSES has a rightful place in the storefront as a provocative horror title!

Also, you say their store like if Steam dosn't have a natural "monopoly" on PC gaming, they let many games on their storefront under the guise of freedom of expression. It makes no sence why this game should be in here as well.

Then why is there smut that could damage Steam's image by them associating with it?

You hold no values and your claim of defence of this concepts is hollow, just like Valve with "freedom of expression.
