However this type of argument does not work because as you can see, you can easily switch out a horse for child or something else. If something is illegal, you can't just justify it by claiming you're doing it for some greater good. It's still illegal.
Steam btw has to conform to both international law and the law of any country they do business with or else they do not qualify for licenses and permits that allow them to sell products. Which is why some games are available in some countries and regions, and not in others. It's not up to Steam.
Oh and since these forums you posted in are user-to-user forums, Steam moderators will likely not see this unless someone decides to report your post. And even if they would see it, they rarely interact with the community the way developer appointed moderators do.
Private storefronts have no obligation to artistic anything. They aren't a public forum, venue, or some kind of trust. Your local big box retailer isn't despicable for deciding to not sell nudie mags at their checkout lanes. This is manufactured drama pure and simple.
This game developer could sell the game themselves on their own website. There are also plenty of other digital storefronts that are far less discerning. Valve as it is getting ready to move on into the console space likely has an eye to becoming more family friendly.
Frankly if this is the kind of art that appeals to you, and you prefer to enjoy this kind of thing here. I'd suggest that you look at the games that remain, and purchase those titles before they end up de-listed. Valve appears to be giving collectors a grace period.
Once again this is manufactured drama. This game sounds like a variety of snuff. I'd honestly be shocked had they let it through, and the only reason that content creators are covering this. Has everything to do with the need to turn molehills into mountains for views.
Well said.
That is a double standard because Steam as degenerate stuff ment to turn you on. This game wants to disturb you, like a horror game should!.
About the "snuff" thing you said, there is an upcoming game called Tormentor on Steam that is a literal torture simulator! By your logic you shold be quaking with shock. Tormentor is made by the same people who made Agony by the way. Why can they have their games published on steam, but not a game that tries to be expressionist art and wants to tell a message like HORSES?
Your argument makes no sence.
Like others have said, the intent is to disturb you, not titilate.
But as the slippery slope goes, it' didn't stop and it'll keep going after this; and the people who pretend not to see that probably secretly support where the slope ends anyways.
Arbitrary power is most easily established upon the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.
And? Their store, they get the right to determine what is and isn't on the store. Not you. Not I.
Saying that they can make the decision feels like a way to avoid saying whether you agree with the decision or not.
That would imply that I either agree or disagree. I'm ambivalent.
I get that it's shocking that the world isn't a binary, but people are capable of being the dirtiest N-word on the internet: Nuanced.
Like so, I believe in creative freedom in that people can create what they want. But I also believe in freedom of association meaning that people can choose whether or not they want to be associated with that creation or creator. And I will vehemently defend both rights so long as no laws are being broken.
Also, you say their store like if Steam dosn't have a natural "monopoly" on PC gaming, they let many games on their storefront under the guise of freedom of expression. It makes no sence why this game should be in here as well.
You hold no values and your claim of defence of this concepts is hollow, just like Valve with "freedom of expression.
