"The Steam or Guide button on controllers can now toggle the visibility of the desktop overlay on and off."
STEAM... please make this crap optional immediately. It's really cheeky to force something like this on us, especially when we've individually assigned this button. Especially in games that only work with the keyboard and where you use a tool to assign the controller buttons ourselves, it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to be forced like this. And no, I don't use the Steam Controller overlay; it's always turned off, and the controller is assigned manually.
It's a disgrace that the Guide/Home button is now being taken away from us (by force). Incidentally, there are also people who don't use the overlay at all, but screenshots aren't possible without it... otherwise, I would have turned it off years ago. What nonsense, too..
But more realistically, it is 95% only when I need to use Remote Play Together. You can just as easily use Print Screen to take a screenshot the old fashioned way and you can always post that as "artwork" on Steam later on. The only thing that F11 really do for you is save a few clicks...
I wonder how developers can be so stupid as to define this taste in such a way that it can't be disabled. It shows how little thought is really put into it. You just get the feeling that these people have absolutely nothing to do with the actual material and therefore can't think about it or understand the effects of such a change.
Fortunately, I found a way in my controller tool to essentially turn the home button on completely, but still assign it a different action. It's sad that we have to go this route. I hope this will be changed soon.
Then all you have to do next is to bind everything except the home button and just skip that part.
