Well regarding Stardew Valley it is a popular indie game, so if the people that called things "woke slop" would label it as such, it would conflict with the entire principle that "woke" games fail financially (or relatively so for AAA games accused of being "woke"), so only games that you haven't heard of, AAA games that didn't do well considering their budger, or unreleased games will tend to be labelled as such. So for example GTA6 will be speculated as being "woke" until it releases and makes $10b+ in revenue, and then all such speculation will be deleted and forgotten.

GTA 6 is already semi dead in the water (delayed again), rockstar loves their copy & paste games like GTA. Most people are tired of that boring formula anyways, like activision rockstar needs too learn how too move on. Elder Scrolls 6 will be the devastator not GTA 6 in any way, GTA 6 will be a huge buyback.

...so as you can see, there really isn't much of a common denominator going on here :P

Oddly enough I don't think I've seen anyone complain about Stardew Valley of all things despite all the gay / pan relationships in that game xD
Is there something special about Stardew that categorically PREVENTS it from being a woke slop for some reason?

Well, that would explain Starfield, but the rest of those games have all done well both financially and in terms of critical response. (Ok, FF 16 did fall short of Square's expectations in terms of sales, but it's still sold nearly 4 million copies and has gotten good reviews overall - AOW4 reviews have been faltering slightly as of late, but it's because people are whining about them making too much money off of DLC, so they're good on the money-making front)

Funnily enough, Starfield is also the only game on that list that I actually gave a negative review, and it was due to all the game breaking bugs - and i was more of the opinion that it had a RIGHT wing message because of all the guns!
If you haven't played Starfield before, literally every single NPC carries a gun. Even the CHILDREN carry guns! (although to be fair, there are only a handful of child NPCs)
Someone even wrote an essay on the Starfield board explaining how the game was actually anti-woke, and it was honestly very well written.

Woke means the same thing it's always meant. It's something that pushes progressive ideas or messages usually through subversion but nowadays often through force or violence. The word itself was popularized by the left and taken from black rappers and influencers. Such liberals would say things like "yeah I'm woke to societal issues fam" to one another while sipping on their ten dollar soy lattes in between complaining about capitalism at Starbucks. On a side note I've never quite understood why so many White libs are obsessed with black "culture" but i digress. The term woke is similar to SJW which was a tumblr term the left treated as a badge of honor but has now soured because the public at large realized how obnoxious such ideology and people who call themselves by these terms are.

Slop means just garbage. Something soulless made for consumers to buy. There's no passion behind it's creation.

As for listing examples in regards to video games it'd be easier to just go to the storefront and search for games with the LGBT or female protagonist tag. All those games are woke.

Naw. Plenty of yuri novels are based, and they have both those labels.
Senran Kagura also really doesn't seem very woke...

Same goes for Ikaruga, who is the heir of the Zaibatsu corporation despite being a foster child and the family having a male blood-related child.

Once again, being 'woke' is not simply having a woman in a position of power, or a minority, or anything like that. It's when it's slammed in your face, when the game spends an inordinate time lecturing the player about some real life issue/uses modern slang when it does not at all fit the setting, or when the devs who made an objectively bad game whine and moan that it did bad simply because of 'bigotry'. Those are just a few examples. But of course, y'all just assume when it's criticized for being woke, it's because those people are on the absolute furthest end of the spectrum and absolute monsters, instead of legitimately criticizing it.

What does it mean 'in your face'? You mean when you can't ignore it?
As for spending an inordinate amount of time on some real life issue....m'dude That's literally been a thing in gaming since games could have a greater narrative depth than 'SHoot the bad guys'. Though to be fair you only notice it when it's someone else's message being pushed.

Regarding modern slang? That's a narrative choice and whether or not it hits or lands is honestly a dice roll. But here's the thing...when you're dealing with fictional, futuristic or fantastical setting...who are you to say what slang words would or wouldn't exist in that world?

Keep in mind, many people who study linguistics will freely say that we are generally ignorant of colloquial terminology from periods prior to the printing press. The people educated enough and and commissioned to write would generally not be writing the base slang.

I mean Lovecraft is a perfect example of this. DO you really think his writing is in anyway reflective of how people actually spoke in his time?
