Looks to have a pin connection and is removable like a Camera battery, but less easy to remove being behind the screws and the rear cover.
IMO. not horrible as long as there are replacements.
MAYBE! maybe the puck interface could be upgraded with peripherals like a battery pack for quick swap charging. here's hoping.
I am sure some clever individuals are already creating a 3d printable battery holder, a backpack, that mags onto the controller.
So it seems you can replace it at least.
