Ohhh... Are the Saudis going to dump PC and console?
EA themselves have been rumbling about that for years, and i saw an Executive on CNBC saying that may be the likely course for them.
So, turning EA into a super mobile gaming company?
May I have the link to the CNBC report?
I saw it on cable, don't know if i can find the link.
Anything else you can remember to find it on Youtube?
Are the Saudis going to shutdown the other divisions?
20 billion USD of debt dumped on EA is like asking for a repeat of Toy's R Us (USA).
They still have a TON of work to finalize it and that is if the FTC doesnt step in.
Because the last time the FTC failed to step in to stop these game company buy outs, Microsoft bought a bunch of game studios and then fired a ton of people.
Errrr....
"On Monday, EA announced it will be acquired in an all-cash deal by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. Shareholders will receive $210 per share, a 17% premium over EA's all-time high in August.2 Oct 2025"
I'm sure Kushner being involved won't didn't streamline the approval process at all. /s
=)
Yeah, this whole 'leveraged buyout' thing is a massive pile of garbage. And the financial firms that do it still make a profit, so they can run around saying "we're awesome, it was their fault for sucking! Lets go do it to another one!"
No, they are not doing this because of altruism. They are doing it to clean up their image. That whole thing with the reporter slung mud all over their face, and the recent moves into gaming are basically damage control.
The debt that EA is being left with in this deal is intentional. They are meant to default on it, so that the Saudis can eventually get full control of the company.
"We will buy and fund the company, but you can keep running it and making games...
Oops, you defaulted on your debt. We will cover it, but you are clearly not fit for the position, so we will take that in exchange for covering the debt."
