Why Steam is great...

This is the most awesome feature i have seen on Steam.

I think many of us are TIRED of these game breaking, game altering, game ending if we don't like it, updates, from developers and games.

If a Developer does not have an Old Version Beta, we can do it ourselves.

I never even knew we can do that. For me it started here...

I want to thank the Easy Red 2 community, for being helpful to me in exploring these options.

They were understanding to an old man, not just looking to press the ban button.

The day and age of having our games misrepresented, altered, or not what was presented for me, are seemingly over.

I thank Steam, the Steam Community for being helpful, the Easy Red 2 community to alerting e to this, and Mr Newell :steamhappy:

I learned about this a loooooong time ago in the Payday 2 forums when I brought up that I really wanted to be a time traveler to play the Deathwish update again.

I probably won't bother doing that for most games. But, in this specific instance. It was really cool.

If it solves all of your issues. All the power to you.

Switching to Linux is what solved mine.

Always great when everything works out. Regardless of some computers getting outdated. (including mine which was manufactured in 2012)

it's not really a hole so there's nothing to plug, the only games where game build matters are online games and they don't let you play with a downpatched build of the game anyway

Valve? I don't think they mind. But, publishers who sometime likes to add MTs BS post launch might take issue.

Oh, so like the other fella presented "online games", well, i stay the hell away from all that. I learned that lesson long ago.

But for SP games, i think it's a great option and wonder why Devs unlike the one i presented don't mention we can do it, when they get hammered about updates.

This is not a "new" process. Users have been using this workaround for at least a few years now. It's prone to user error and not a perfect solution. If you know what you're doing, you can make it work. But Steam won't offer any kind of support and most likely neither will the game devs.

It also makes me wonder about the proper moderation on the forums because lately, responses against users who deliberately troll have become increasingly slowed, if not inconsistent. Not to mention spambot accounts that have been on the rise lately, namely those with avatars that are rather suggestive, along with posting emoji spam on users' profile comments.

You all understand that the moderation team is not just sitting at a desk and going through Steam looking for violations. They are going by reports. You need to report whatever you THINK violates the Steam's Term of Service and guidelines.

Only works if you have the depot numbers needed which requires quite a bit of searching to find.

That's all and good. But, when you report somebody who literally called you a PDF-file out of the blue and nothing is done beyond closing the thread. It really feels like it is pointless to report violations. I sure gave up on that for the most part.

As somebody wiser told me said. "All the laws in the world serve no purpose without enforcement."
