Timeless Games?
What's that one game that you can't live without that'll always live on no matter how many years it's been? The one that you're never bored of?

Well I'm relatively on the younger side of the gaming community, hence can not point to a game with which ive spent many years on or pick one for the "Timeless Title".
However, theres a few games that have stuck with me for a handful of years.
First, Command & Conquer: KanesWrath, along with some other CnC titles, i was introduced to it by my cousin some 3 or 4 years ago and since then we've been playing them on and off, burning thousands of hours. But sadly i dont have those games on steam, it would've been nice a showcase.
I'm a sucker for strategy games, these titles are all chef's kiss when it comes to RTS.

Secondly, not sure if this merits a mention here but hey all games are games, and perhaps this one comes close to timeless for me, Chess. I wish chess.com would launch a steam app for their site just like they did for the playstore, that would be lit. Now I'm not at a advanced autistic grandmaster level, but I've been playing it religiously for the past two years both over the board and online! Collecting myself over 2500 games played online :steamfacepalm:

Other than that I've had some occasional flirts with some great games, like Project Zomboid, Dying Light, Team Fortress (700+ hours T_T), etc but none close to timelessness.
There's an endless library to explore and years to spend before i pass a ruling.
I can tell you after so many decades that no such game exists.

EVERYTHING gets old, eventually.

Tboi, it's just really fun
Dying Light, I just cannot get enough. I might not have a ton of hours but I keep coming back to it, it's like a phase similar to getting back on minecraft. I am very fond of it.
never bored would be a lie, but after years and still enjoy playing it is a yes. i'm not gonna name anything just so greedy company can ruin it for me though.

Mechcommander Gold its my favorite game ever made.
The BFME games.
Arcanum, Divine Divinity, Age of Empires 1&2(originals), lots of MS-DOS sidescrollers incl. Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure(s), Jazz Jackrabbit, Earthworm Jim. I mean really the list goes on and on. These games aged well, and are eternal. The trick is getting them to run as intended.

For modern titles, Exanima is by far my favourite, but it's still in development.

Absolute great list and Arcanum is a good way to start it off. :cozybethesda:

Arcanum boots without issue on my Win10 device, btw. Steam version, that is. Reinstalled it not too long ago.

Rimworld is the one I have the most hours in. Fallout 4 is the one I play for a spell, leave it, come back for another spell and so on.
Can't think of many more I play this heavily. Used to be really into football games (fifa/eafc) but since I no longer have gamepass I really don't want to pay for it. They get worse and worse every year.

Don't have any. It's always just "play-finish-discard" order to me. It's only a damn piece of entertainment after all.

Yep some of them will work out of the box but was more speaking generally.
Also added Exanima to the list.
