How do you guys deal with your backlogs?
I know that this might be a bit of an overdone topic, and so many people have so many different ideas and outlooks on it.

I sometimes dread the fact that I'm never going to finish a game that I started. It became a joke between me and my friends, going back and forth mocking each other about the games that we started for months and never finished.

I'm curious about how you guys look at it. :rotcowboy:

I have simply accepted that my backlog is a thing and it always will be.

I have games on my backlog from the Super Nintendo that i still haven't got to.
I don't really think about it much at all. I have 2 go-to games that I play a lot and the rest just have to wait until I feel like playing them (again) which could be never xD

I have some games on my Switch that I can never bring myself to go back to, I don't know why.

You're living in bliss, man. :kenalaugh:
I don't view it as a problem. I will never be bored in my life, as I'll always have something to play, no matter what.

Also, you don't have to finish every game. If you're bored of it, its okay to stop. Gaming should be fun, not a chore.

Personally I have fun with way too many different genres of games and got way too much I actually do want to play, so I buy things that are on cheap sales and play my games in order of purchase.

Due to that, I am currently playing through the games I bought in february 2024.

got a few games, well quite a lot of games. but i accepted my backlog, but i pretty much made a list for myself of games what i want to try to finish, any games what i didn't enjoy aka stopped somewhere between the beginning and the middle i just take it off my games to finish list, if it got any card drops, then i just let the game run until i got all the card drops.

That's a neat way of looking at it. I was bored of the games I was playing at some point, and then I got Monkey Ball. It felt like a breath of fresh air for once!

I tried making collections on Steam. One for the games I'm currently playing, one for paused games, one for finished, and one for games I want to play. But as time went on, I found myself neglecting those lists and just playing whatever I had installed.

lol, kind of happens to me as well. once in a while i force myself to go back and do some of those games.
Easy.

I don’t have one. I only ever purchase games I will play immediately
I generally jump to a game I gravitate towards. I do kinda-sorta keep a favorites list with one game per genre (or sub-genre, see FPS) I'm currently on when I'm into that genre at any given time but when I simply want to play another game not on that favorites list, I play that other game. I also got a list of games I've started playing and intend to continue playing someday. The backburner, so to speak.
I've reached a life stage where I just ignore back-logged games ... I play what I want, when I want.
By not dealing with it ....
You're supposed to finish the backlog??
I dont. I have come to terms with that i most likely wont play large chunks of my Steam library in my lifetime.
I dont try to work on any "backlog", i just play what i feel like.
If its a new game from the backlog, great. If not, also fine.
